Itanagar, Mar 17: Vaccination campaigns for children were launched in various parts of the state today to help build better immunity.

The District Health Society of Kurung Kumey launched the Special Vaccination Campaign 3.0 at the Community and Tribal District Hospital (CTDH) in Koloriang. The week-long campaign aims to enhance immunization coverage for children aged 0-5 years and achieve national and state immunization targets.

Deputy commissioner Vishakha Yadav inaugurated the campaign in the presence of health officials, including District Reproductive and Child Health Officer (DRCHO) Tadar Tagh, medical superintendent of CTDH Koloriang Bengia Tani, nursing officers, ANMs, and ASHAs from the Koloriang block.

During the event, Tani emphasized the importance of the campaign and called for cooperation among vaccinators and health staff to ensure its success. DRCHO Tadar Tagh highlighted the campaign’s objective of achieving over 95 percent coverage for MR1, MR2, Td10, and Td16 vaccines. He also advised that Penta-1 vaccines should be administered to eligible children aged six weeks to one year.

Yadav urged healthcare workers, ASHAs, and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) to coordinate efforts to ensure that no child is left out. She stressed the importance of following the micro-plan to reach all beneficiaries, including those in remote areas.

The campaign is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening immunization coverage in the district, particularly in hard-to-reach regions.

At Yingkiong, a five-day Special Vaccination Campaign 3.0 was launched at the Upper Siang district hospital with the motto "Vaccines Save Lives – Let’s Get Our Children Vaccinated Today and Protect Tomorrow."

The campaign was inaugurated by medical superintendent Dr Karo Teng in the presence of medical officer Dr Nabo Borang.

The initiative, which began on March 17, will continue until March 22, aiming to strengthen immunization coverage in the district. Health officials emphasized the importance of timely vaccinations in preventing life-threatening diseases and urged parents to ensure their children receive the necessary doses.

The campaign is part of the government's broader efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and enhance immunization rates in remote areas. Health workers and volunteers have been mobilized to conduct door-to-door awareness and vaccination drives to maximize outreach.

At Yupia, The Papum Pare district health society successfully launched the Special Vaccination Campaign (SVC) 3.0 at Tigdo III Anganwadi Center (AWC) on Monday, with the aim to enhance Td10 and Td16 coverage, achieve 95 per cent MR1 and MR2 vaccination rates, and ensure all eligible children receive the Pentavalent-1 vaccine between six weeks and one year of age.

Additionally, the campaign seeks to eliminate zero-dose children in the district.

District medical officer (DMO) Dr Rina Ronya, who is also the vice chairman of the district health society, attended the event, accompanied by senior medical officer (WHO) Dr Tana Taka, DRCHO Dr Neyang Nitik and other officials, anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers.

Dr Nitik highlighted the importance of timely childhood immunization and urged parents to vaccinate their children without delay. She also emphasised the significance of the pneumonia vaccination drive and informed the gathering about the upcoming National Deworming Day (NDD).

Addressing the attendees, Dr Ronya expressed gratitude to DRCHO, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and parents for their support in successfully implementing SVC 3.0 and emphasized that every child in the district has been vaccinated at least once, marking a significant step in the district’s public health efforts.

Dr Taka congratulated all stakeholders on the campaign's successful launch and outlined its key objectives, including the elimination of measles and rubella by 2026, vaccinating 30 per cent of unvaccinated children with the pentavalent vaccine, and increasing TB vaccination rates.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by health workers and stressed the need for collective efforts to achieve the campaign’s goals.

Emphasising the critical role of timely vaccination in protecting children’s health, he urged all community members to contribute to the success of the initiative.

The launch of SVC 3.0 marks a significant step in strengthening immunization efforts in the district, ensuring that every child receives the necessary vaccines for a healthier future.
