Itanagar, Mar 20: To encourage academic research for policy impact assessment, the state department of Finance, Planning and Investment has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the College of Horticulture & Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat on Thursday.

Under the partnership, the College of Horticulture & Forestry will conduct an evaluation study of five flagship schemes namely Atma Nirbhar Krishi Yojana, Atma Nirbhar Bhagwani Yojana, Atma Nirbhar Plantation Yojana, Atma Nirbhar Pashu Palan Yojana, and Atma Nirbhar Matsya Palan Yojana, Finance, Planning & Investment department’s monitoring and evaluation director Mokir Eshi Ori said.

The MoU was signed by Planning and Investment secretary RK Sharma on behalf of the state government and by College of Horticulture and Forestry dean Dr BN Hazarika on behalf of the Central Agricultural University, Pasighat.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said the state government has allocated the required funds to support the evaluation study and hoped that the exercise would help gain insights into the impact of the schemes.

Dr Hazarika, in his speech, emphasized the importance of academia in fostering evidence-based policymaking.
