Itanagar, Apr 5: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the 59th Central Mopin festival celebrations in Aalo in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district on April 5.
Arunachal chief minister Pema Khandu, and Cultural Affairs Minister Dasanglu Pul will also attend the celebrations.
Dr Sarma and his Arunachal counterpart will take part in the Mopin celebrations at Gumin Kiin in Aalo.
Mopin, one of the most popular festivals of Arunachal Pradesh, is an agricultural festival celebrated for a good harvest, peace and prosperity by the Galos in West Siang, Leparada, Lower Siang, East Siang, Upper Subansiri district, and other Galo inhabited areas.
Meanwhile, Arunachal governor KT Parnaik has greeted the people of the state, especially members of the Galo community on the festive occasion of Mopin.
He wished that the vibrant festival would bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to all.
Mopin is one of the most cherished and colourful festivals of Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Galo tribe, he said.
Parnaik said with its deep-rooted traditions and festive spirit, it has played a vital role in preserving the community's cherished customs and values.
“I am confident that this ethno-traditional celebration will continue to strengthen the socio-economic progress of the tribe and uphold its revered way of life,” he said.
“As we come together in celebration, I join my Galo brethren in offering prayers to Donyi Polo and Ane Mopin, seeking their divine blessings for the well-being and prosperity of all,” the governor said in his message.
