Itanagar, Apr 7: Arunachal Pradesh’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) platform, ATURTO, is set to launch the opening event of its third season on April 26 at Dirang Multipurpose Hall in West Kameng district, under the banner “Dirang Dominance”.
The upcoming edition marks ATURTO’s seventh official event and will feature the platform’s first-ever Featherweight Grand Prix (68.5 kg), offering a cash prize of ?5 lakh along with a championship belt, the organisers announced at a press conference at Arunachal Press Club here.
The event will feature eight professional fighters, including four from the Northeast. Notable names include undefeated K1 Kumite Champion Neitso Angami of Nagaland, GAMMA Asian Gold and World Bronze medalist Niranjan Singh, and Kon Jarbin of Arunachal Pradesh, who will make his pro debut after progressing through ATURTO’s amateur and semi-pro divisions.
CEO Higio Tarak, along with vice presidents Nyato Mosing (Pre-Production) and Dhananjay Morang (Operations), confirmed a three-event structure for the 2025 season. The semifinals are scheduled for September, and the finals will be held in December. Locations for the remaining two events are yet to be disclosed.
“We want to take MMA deeper into the districts and make it part of Arunachal’s identity,” Tarak said. He also revealed that ATURTO is in advanced talks with the state Department of Youth Affairs to sign an MoU aimed at promoting combat sports and athlete development in the state.
Founded in 2022, ATURTO has expanded rapidly, hosting events in Ziro, Pasighat, Namsai, and Itanagar. The platform recorded over 3 lakh online views in its previous season, the organisers said.
