Itanagar, Apr 7: Union Minister for Women & Child Development Annpurna Devi is scheduled to visit Arunachal Pradesh during the first week of the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada, which will be observed across the country from April 8 to 22.
The visit aims to assess ongoing initiatives to strengthen support for women and children in the state, aligning with the government’s continuous efforts to promote welfare services and enhance the safety and well-being of vulnerable groups.
The ministry of women & child development announced that this year’s Poshan Pakhwada will focus on four key themes: the first 1,000 days of life, popularisation of the Beneficiary/Citizen Module of the Poshan Tracker, management of malnutrition through Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), and promoting a healthy lifestyle to address obesity in children.
Union minister of state for women & child development Savitri Thakur will deliver a webcast address to officers of 18 partner ministries, state WCD departments, and Anganwadi workers across the country on the inaugural day. The address is scheduled for 12 noon on April 8 and will be streamed through the official webcast platform.
Poshan Abhiyaan, launched by the prime minister, aims to improve nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six years of age. The Poshan Pakhwada forms part of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, focusing on fostering health, wellness, and immunity against diseases and malnutrition.
This year’s campaign will be outcome-oriented and will involve home visits, community outreach programmes, identification drives, and camps at the village, block, and district levels. It seeks to educate communities on holistic nutrition, encourage exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices, and promote the use of the Poshan Tracker to enhance community empowerment and involvement.
Since the inception of the Poshan Abhiyaan, six editions of Poshan Pakhwada have been successfully organised. Activities under the programme involve convergence with other ministries, including the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and the Ministry of Education, among others.
The ministry stated that the initiatives planned under Poshan Pakhwada 2025 would reflect the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and continue efforts to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition at individual, community, and national levels, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a 'Suposhit Bharat'.
