Itanagar, Apr 8: Thirty-seven trainees from the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Yupia, on Monday departed for the Larsen & Toubro Construction Skills Training Institute (CSTI) in Jadcherla, Telangana, to undergo an intensive on-the-job training (OJT) programme.
The trainees were given a warm send-off at Yupia railway station by Skill Development and Entrepreneurship director Sibo Passing and other senior officials.
The development marks a significant milestone for ITI Yupia and the state, as it is the first time that ITI trainees from Arunachal Pradesh are venturing outside the state for OJT.
Established in 1995, L&T CSTI is known for its industry-aligned training programmes across India. The institute imparts vocational training in trades such as formwork carpentry, bar bending and steel fixing, masonry, plumbing and sanitary work, electrical, and scaffolding. The programmes are aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and place emphasis on both theoretical and practical learning.
The OJT module includes 80 per cent hands-on training and 20 per cent classroom instruction, enabling holistic skill development. Trainees will also receive training in soft skills and personality development. The institute offers state-of-the-art infrastructure, including modern labs and equipment, and ensures 100 per cent placement for successful candidates.
The current batch comprises trainees from electrician, welder, surveyor, and draughtsman civil trades. Their training period will range from two to three months, depending on the trade.
Addressing the trainees, Passing described the training at L&T CSTI as a gateway to a promising career in the construction sector.
“I am confident that our trainees will gain invaluable skills and knowledge that will set them apart in the job market,” he said.
The collaboration between the state’s department of skill development and entrepreneurship and L&T CSTI is expected to further enhance employment opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.
More batches from other ITIs across the state are scheduled to follow soon.
ITI Yupia principal K V Lincon and senior officials from the department were also present at the send-off function.
