Aalo, Apr 9: As part of the preparations for the upcoming panchayat elections, a training and briefing session on the summary revision of electoral rolls was conducted at Aalo on Wednesday.
The session, organised by the district election officer, focused on the Aalo West and Aalo East assembly constituencies, aiming to ensure a smooth and error-free electoral process.
Extra assistant commissioner Koj Tacho in his welcome address emphasised the need for accuracy in the preparation of electoral rolls. He advised all designated officers, AEROs, and EROs to work meticulously to ensure the rolls are error-free and up to date.
Deputy district electoral officer Mabi Taipodia in her address, highlighted key aspects of the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1997, and provided a detailed briefing on the procedures involved in the summary revision of electoral rolls.
She also reminded the officers to maintain one voter per constituency and to cross-check for duplicate entries during the revision process.
Addressing the participants, deputy commissioner Mamu Hage informed that the state Election Commission would soon conduct the panchayat elections and that an updated electoral roll is critical for its success.
She noted that the existing rolls, prepared five years ago, require thorough revision to ensure accuracy and transparency. She urged all officers to follow the timeline strictly while ensuring fairness, proper coordination, and special attention to the inclusion of senior citizens, transgender individuals, and other marginalized groups.
Additional inputs were shared by Kamba ADC Tamo Riba, who underscored the roles and responsibilities of the EROs, AEROs, and designated officers, and stressed the importance of completing the process on time with full dedication.
The training programme witnessed the participation of around 80 officers and officials, including key administrative figures and electoral staff.
The session marked a significant step toward conducting the Panchayat Raj Elections 2025 in a fair, inclusive, and efficient manner.
According to the schedule of the summary revision for the panchayat elections, April 17 is the date for draft publication of electoral rolls and filing of claims and objections has been fixed from April 17 to May 8 next.
Reading of electoral rolls in gram sabhas has been fixed from April 19 to 21 while, special campaign with booth level agents has been fixed on April 24 and 25 respectively and from May 8 to 29, would be the date for disposal of claims and objections.
Preparation and printing of supplementary lists has been fixed on June 10 and June 16 has been fixed as the final publication of the electoral rolls.
