Itanagar, Apr 10: Governor KT Parnaik has greeted the people of the state, especially members of the Tutsa community, on the occasion of Pongtu festival.

He expressed hope that the celebration would usher in peace, happiness and prosperity for all.

The governor said Pongtu, the vibrant agricultural festival of the Tutsa’s of Changlang and Tirap districts, is a time of joy and gratitude.

Celebrated before the onset of the rainy season, Pongtu marks the completion of the millet harvest and the welcoming of a New Year with renewed hopes and aspirations.

He said the sacred occasion is also an opportunity to seek divine blessings for a bountiful harvest and protection against natural and unforeseen calamities.

“With deep reverence, I join my Tutsa brethren in offering prayers to the Supreme God, Rangkathok, for his choicest blessings upon all, the governor wished.
