Itanagar, Apr 11: As part of the preparations for the summary revision of electoral rolls for municipal wards and panchayat constituencies, the State Election Commission has issued an official notification, setting January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date.

To raise awareness across all 20 municipal wards of the capital, a coordination meeting was held here, on Friday under the chairmanship of capital municipal officer Talo Potom.

Municipal electoral registration officer (MERO), Khoda Lhasa, gave a detailed presentation outlining the schedule notified by the State Election Commission, the significance of the draft publication, the current status of the municipal electoral roll, and updates on polling stations across the 20 wards.

He also briefed the attendees on the roles of officers appointed to receive claims and objections, and the use of Forms No 2 (Claim for Inclusion), No 3 (Objection to Inclusion), and No 4 (Objection to Particulars in Entry), as prescribed under the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Elections Act, 2009 and Rules, 2011.

The meeting was attended by Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and Itanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Tame Phassang, both of whom shared valuable inputs to ensure a smooth and successful electoral roll revision process.

Also present were municipal ward corporators, the SDO (headquarters), and assistant municipal electoral registration officers (AMEROs) from Itanagar, Naharlagun, and Banderdewa administrative circles.

The district municipal election officer expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their active participation and urged them to help spread awareness about the new electoral roll ervision across all municipal wards in the capital region.
