Chowkham, Apr 11: A two-day training program is being held at government higher secondary school (GHSS) here, bringing together 43 teachers from both government and private schools under the Chongkham CD block.
The program is organised by the Samagra Shiksha department of the district, under the guidance of the district project coordinator (ISSE – Education) and the direction of the district administration.
The training aims to strengthen teachers’ readiness for inclusive education and to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support children with special needs (CwSN) in mainstream classrooms.
The initiative also contributes to meeting the key performance indicator (KPI) goal of ensuring that all schools have trained teachers for the education of CwSN.
During the sessions, participants were introduced to various aspects of inclusive education, including the identification and assessment of disabilities, understanding different types of disabilities and the concessions available, and the basics of sign language to assist hearing-impaired students.
The training also covered state government facilities available for CwSN, along with specific provisions under the Samagra Shiksha scheme designed to support these students.
The program reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to creating a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environment for all children.
