Itanagar, Apr 11: In a major push for governance, tourism, and sustainable development in one of the state’s most remote and strategic regions, chief secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, Friday made his first official visit to Jemeithang, situated along the Sino-India border.
The visit underscored the state government's commitment to inclusive growth, as the chief secretary reviewed ongoing development projects, promoted tourism potential, and emphasised environmental sustainability.
He was accompanied by Lungla MLA Tsering Lhamu, ADC Tashi Dhondup, EAC Tsering Choedon, CO Deewan Mara, gaon burahs, PRI members, and local public leaders, an official statement said here.
Gupta toured key sites such as the scenic Sangetsar Lake, the historic Khendzemane, and the 12th-century Gorsam Stupa, highlighting the area's immense spiritual, cultural, and natural appeal.
He urged officials to develop Jemeithang as a hub for spiritual, cultural, historical, and adventure tourism while stressing the importance of cleanliness and empowering self-reliant panchayats.
In a review meeting with departmental heads, the chief secretary assessed progress on development initiatives and outlined administrative priorities tailored to the region’s unique needs.
Further reflecting the government’s emphasis on sustainability, he inspected the local material recovery facility (MRF) and praised the Jemeithang Waste Management Committee for its commendable work.
He assured full administrative support to strengthen waste management efforts.
The visit marks a significant step toward participatory and sustainable development in the state’s border regions, reaffirming the government’s vision of progress for every corner of the state.
