Itanagar, Apr 14: Governor K T Parnaik on Monday extended his greetings to the people of the state, especially the Nyishi community, on the auspicious occasion of the Longte Festival.

In his message, the governor said that Longte is a celebration of well-being, prosperity, and harmony, deeply rooted in the rich traditions of the Nyishi community. It reflects their profound reverence for nature and their dedication to preserving cultural heritage.

The festival symbolizes the wellness of humanity, the fertility of the land, and the abundance of livestock, while also invoking the blessings of benevolent spirits for peace and progress, he said.

“May this sacred festival strengthen the bonds of unity, preserve our age-old traditions, and bring prosperity, happiness, and harmony to all,” Parnaik added in his message.

The governor also extended his warmest greetings to the people of the state on the festive occasion of Bohag Bihu.

On behalf of the people, he extended best wishes to the people in Assam, expressing his hope that the celebration would strengthen the bonds of friendship, foster harmony, and bring progress to all.

In a message, Parnaik said that Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the agricultural season. It is a time when the farming community welcomes nature’s abundance, offering prayers for a rich and fruitful harvest. The spirit of Bihu is reflected in the vibrant dances, soulful songs, and heartfelt festivities that bring people together in joy and unity, he said.

May this festivity of Bihu usher in peace, prosperity, and happiness for all, he added.
