Raga, Apr 17: Police in Kamle district have solved a blind robbery case reported from near Don village in Upper Kamle on March 3, officials said on Thursday.

According to police, a supply truck (Reg. No. AS-26AC-1745) was intercepted by four unidentified miscreants around 8 pm on the day of the incident. The driver was physically assaulted, and the assailants looted a mobile phone along with Rs 18,000 in cash.

An FIR was lodged the following day by Tayo Medi, president of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation, Kamle district unit. The case was registered Under Sections 309(6), 126(2), 131, 115(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and assigned to Inspector Napho Wangsa for investigation.

Despite the absence of CCTV surveillance and the crime site being located in a remote area nearly 90 km from the nearest police station, sustained technical surveillance and intensive groundwork led to the arrest of the accused on April 16.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Taluk Dong (18), Tani Dong (36), Beka Dong (30), and Topo Marde alias Turu Bhai (32). Police recovered the stolen mobile phone from Marde’s possession. A Pulsar motorcycle and a Fascino scooter allegedly used in the crime were also seized, along with other mobile phones and documents.

“The case presented several challenges due to its remote location and lack of digital evidence. However, persistent efforts by the district police under the supervision of Kamle SP Techi Hanyir led to a breakthrough after one month and 12 days,” said DySP Taba Biroy, during a press briefing.

All four accused have confessed to their involvement in the robbery and have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation nears its conclusion.
