Itanagar, Jun 24: In a significant development for air connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh, union Civil Aviation minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Monday announced a new Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) helicopter route, Daporijo–Dibrugarh–Daporijo, under UDAN 5.4.
The route, awarded to Pawan Hans Limited, will operate an 11-seater helicopter thrice a week, offering affordable and direct connectivity for residents of Upper Subansiri and Kamle districts.
The announcement was made during the seventh small aircraft & helicopter summit held at Hyatt Regency, here, organised by the union civil aviation ministry, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
Minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol, also graced the event.
Representing Arunachal Pradesh, director of civil aviation Starlie Jamoh and assistant director (technical) Priyam Borthakur attended the summit.
The platform brought together key stakeholders from across the aviation sector to discuss strategies for unlocking the potential of the helicopter and small aircraft industries and to strengthen last-mile air connectivity in remote regions.
The newly awarded helicopter service is expected to improve access to education, healthcare, and connectivity to the rest of India, especially for the people of Daporijo and surrounding areas, by facilitating smoother travel to Dibrugarh and beyond.
