OLD TUPI, Jul 5: In a strong show of commitment to a drug-free society, Tirap deputy commissioner Techu Aran on Saturday led an outreach and inspection visit to the New Life Foundation Rehabilitation Centre in Old Tupi as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
The visit, also joined by the deputy director of ICDS and the district information and public relations officer (DIPRO), focused on raising awareness about substance abuse, promoting recovery, and reinforcing community-based support for individuals battling addiction.
Aran conducted a detailed inspection of the facility to assess its compliance with health and safety standards and to evaluate the rehabilitation environment for the inmates. He interacted personally with several inmates, encouraging them to speak openly about their struggles and reaffirming the administration’s support in their journey towards recovery.
In a symbolic gesture of motivation, the DC administered a pledge to the inmates, urging them to commit to a life free from addiction. His message of resilience and hope was met with appreciation from both the inmates and the centre's staff.
Highlighting the importance of rehabilitation in building stronger communities, the DC also participated in a friendly volleyball match with the inmates and local villagers, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and community bonding.
He also held discussions on relapse cases, underlining the need for robust aftercare systems and social reintegration support to ensure sustained recovery and prevent recurrence.
The visit underscored the Tirap administration’s proactive approach under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan to build a resilient, inclusive, and drug-free future for the district.
