ITANAGAR, Jul 5: The state government has released scholarship funds amounting to ?111.11 crore for 40,090 students under the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for the 2024–25 academic session, even as nearly 2,800 students remain unable to receive the benefit due to unresolved technical issues.
According to an official statement, the scholarship amount will be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries within the next five days, contingent upon successful technical processing through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The disbursal follows the commitment made by chief minister Pema Khandu and education minister Pasang Dorjee Sona during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly recently.
The latest disbursal brings the total number of students covered under the scholarship scheme to 45,125, which includes 5,035 students whose payments were previously cleared.
However, the government acknowledged that payments for 2,796 students could not be processed due to issues related to their bank account details, particularly problems with Aadhaar seeding and mismatched account information. Affected students have been asked to update their bank records through their respective banks to enable future transactions.
In addition to the disbursed amount, the state government has released ?15.72 crore on a loan basis to clear pending scholarship dues, with the expectation of reimbursement from the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The Department of Higher and Technical Education has advised students to utilize the funds strictly for educational purposes. For assistance or queries, a Scholarship Help Desk has been set up and can be reached at 6009924943 during office hours.
